Discover How To Grow Your Online Business By Using eBay To Almost Cheat Your Way To Online Profits

Have you reached the stage in your eBay adventure where you are deciding which way is best for you to go?

Knowing where your future on eBay lies may not be as obvious as you may think. Ebay is often described as a highly proffesional site used mainly by amateurs. In the beginning eBay was populated by people dealing in what now would be described as 'collectibles'. It was almost a case of everyone knowing everyone else, a cosy, community feel to the whole thing.

That unproffessional approach is still to be found everywhere on the site. Inaccurate titles, poor or (worse still) no photograph, terrible descriptions and items listed in the wrong category abound. It is part of the charm of the thing and I for one will be dissapointed if ever becomes for 'pros only'.

The obvious point is that if you approach eBay as seriously as you would any business, on or off line, in order to earn a little or a lot more money, then, in this amateur enviroment, you will prosper.

By this I mean are you going to continue selling 'one - offs' - items bought from car boot sales, charity shops, second hand book shops ( on and off line ), flea markets, eBay and other online auctions as well as on behalf of friends and relatives ? Nothing wrong with this approach - I still do it from time to time. It gets you out and about, helps you to keep a finger 'on the pulse' and can be great fun.

You could carry on this way forever and as you become more expert you could earn a regular, tidy sum.

This approach is time consuming - you will find that it takes a lot of time and effort searching for and buying your 'stock'; again many find this part of the fun, the thrill of the chase. There will come a point where you may find it difficult to increase your income. You are, after all, one person with only so much time available. So you are at the crossroads, which path will you take, the same one or are you ready for the 'big' time ?

If you have decided that a good regular income, a bit less running around and the chance to earn a lot more money is for you then you will need to start dealing with wholesalers. I'm only going to recommend one source here, but I will tell you what not to do.

In no time you will be able to find lists of 'wholesalers'that you can buy at very low cost that provide you with a source of just about anything you can think of. Think about it, the research needed to compile and constantly update an accurate and comprehensive record of guenuine wholesalers would be an enormous and an expensive operation. DON'T GO THERE - a few dollars can't possible produce something that is of any use.

Dealing with manufacturers should only be considered after you are very familar with all aspects of eBay and have dealt with wholesalers.Even so it isn't necessary to ever deal with a manufacturer in order to make a very good living. You may be surprised to learn that accept for one very small UK manufacturer I deal only with wholesalers.

Buying a container load of something at an amazingly low price from China may sound very appealing and one day you may do it but even if you find the most honest manufacturer on the planet, imagine if you get half way through selling your consignment only to find that a more recent model was now available and the balance of your stock had halved in value ! Perhaps the goods were damaged, sorting out responsibilty will not be fun.

Dealing with wholesalers gives you far more flexibility, it's easier to try a number of different items - especially when you have built up a relationship with them. Even if you find yourself left with a dozen of 'something' that hasn't gone so well, your wholesaler might take them back. Failing that you may have to bite the bullet and list them on eBay without a reserve to get some or all of your money back.

Just for fun you might like to know that the worlds largest sites listing Chinese manufacturers are:

www.Alibaba.com

www.madeinchina.com

Have fun on these sites but DON'T BUY ANYTHING YET unless you are a very experienced eBayer!

O.K. so which wholesale source would I recommend, without reserve ?

Remember, more than 50% of items listed on eBay do not sell, you can stay in the cosy world of the 'amateur' or come to the conclusion, as I did, that online auctions and in particular eBay, offers the greatest opportunity to make money online for the average person there has ever been.

Exageration ? try to think of another business that can be started with almost no capital, where your business premises (the eBay site) are supplied free, where customers are brought to you, where you don't pay rent, rates, franchise fees, you don't give credit and you answer to no one - difficult isn't it?
