Discover How To Grow Your Online Business By Using eBay To Almost Cheat Your Way To Online Profits
In your quest to make extra money by working online using internet auction houses like ebay you need to check out the advantages of 'me' - My eBay.
If you trawl through eBay you will sometimes find next to sellers I.D. an icon in blue and red saying me - this means 'my eBay'. Click on a few and check out their content.
Many are truly awful - by that I mean a waste of time. You will find the 'homely' type - photographs of their gardens, the dog and Aunt Mabel, or what I refer to as the non-event - their listed item repeated, perhaps some contact details and vague copy about what nice people they are.
Should you bother with My eBay ? - YES YOU SHOULD if you are serious about establishing your own online business.
It makes you appear more established, not here today and gone tomorrow. It's another opportunity to reassure your customers - a vitally important aspect of all online trading and make them feel more comfortable dealing with you. If you have your own website it as doubley important for you to set up your 'me' page as soon as possible.
I quote eBay - 'you can ( in My eBay ) point to your favourite web address and give names to the links'
In other words you could include your own website address. A bit of a grey area this as eBay does not want you to promote selling goods somewhere other then eBay. Simply listing your website address without 'promoting' it is OK I've found.
My eBay is another selling tool and you should always remember that - again, good headline, good copy and concentrate on the benefits to your customers. Although you cannot sell directly from My eBay you can and should include descriptions and photographs of your whole range of products.
In your description(s) of items that you are selling suggest that they should visit your 'me' site by clicking on the me logo at the top right of your page.
This whole business of using eBay not only to sell items but to increase your customer base and drive them to your own website ( no eBay fees ) is a huge subject in itself - one I hope to cover on another occasion.
Go to My eBay on eBay's 'site map', they give some very good examples regarding layout.
I'm often asked the fastest way to register a 'me' well simply go to a listing of anyone with a 'me', click on the 'me' icon then scroll down to the bottom of their 'me' page where you will find 'To create your own About Me page click here'
Remember, My eBay is FREE !, you must, .therefore, exploit it to the full.
EBAY SHOPS
You might consider, at some stage, opening an eBay shop
This rather like a shop within a shop ... the sort of thing you will have seen in off-line department stores. You can list your entire range of products, provide additional information and sell directly from it.
It costs ! At the time of writing eBay are adjusting some prices so I am reluctant to quote rates but it's a simple matter to check out the current charges.
However it is a fast, simple and relatively inexpensive way of establishing your own site-within-a-site and the majority of those who have done it say it works.
Like all business decisions, it's all about numbers. If it makes you more money - fine. Perhaps a totally independent website would be better - no eBay rules or fees - or perhaps both !
REMEMBER: more than 50% of items listed on eBay DO NOT SELL - don't let yours join the list! Making money online is possible and, in my opinion, the best way to start is via eBay.
