A Foolproof Method that Will Cost You Nothing!

We all know that if you don't get any visitors to your eBay auction listing, you won't be able to run a successful business. But, most eBayers don't know about one of the best ways to drive traffic into a listing. This tool is called "SEO" or "Search Engine Optimization."

Websites have been using this practice for years in order to increase their number of monthly visitors and generate add revenue. But so far, very few eBay sellers have learned how to properly harness this tool. This article will show you how to use SEO tools in order to create keywords that can be used to drive new customers to your listings.

What is SEO?

SEO is a systematic method for improving a particular website's ranking in popular search engines such as Google. The better a websites SEO, the more likely that they will turn up on the first page of a Google search. Search engines use two basic types of factors in order to determine a website's ranking:

* On-Page Factors - The relevance of the content on the webpage to the search being conducted.

* Off-Page Factors - These are factors that have to do with the way in which a website interacts with the rest of the Internet. The number and quality of websites that link to the page is an obvious example.

While off-page factors may be somewhat outside of your domain of influence, there are many things that you can do to make sure that the on-page factors of your eBay listing are fully optimized according to SEO standards. The first step is to conduct some serious keyword research.

Keyword Research

Keywords are a major part of your listing's search rankings. Your listing needs to contain keywords which are relevant to the products that your customers are looking for. You can use Google's "Keyword Tool" in order to build a list of the top most relevant keywords.

This tool can be found at the following link: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Here's how it works: First you will need to limit the scope of your keyword research by selecting "United Kingdom" or whichever combination of countries you market to. Next look under "How would you like to generate keyword ideas?" and select "Descriptive words or phrases." Now enter in the name of the product or class of products that you sell, and check the box titled "use synonyms." Finally, click on "Get keyword ideas."

A list of keywords that are relevant to your product will now come up with information about the number of people who search for each keyword phrase each month. Now here's the important part: Find the keywords which BOTH are the most relevant to your products AND have a monthly search volume which is comparable to the number of listings which are attached to that keyword (this number by performing a search for the keyword in Google's main search engine). It's best to start out with keywords which have a less dense search volume and less keyword competition.

This list of keywords will form the basis for the optimization of your listing and will help you to increase traffic dramatically.
